"It is not enough to study or reenact the accomplishments of our pioneers. We need to identify the great, eternal principles they applied to achieve all they achieved for our benefit and then apply those principles to the challenges of our day. In that way we honor their pioneering efforts, and we also reaffirm our heritage and strengthen its capacity to bless our own posterity and those millions of our Heavenly Father's children who have yet to hear and accept the gospel of Jesus Christ. We are all pioneers in doing so." Dallin H. Oaks
Have you seen the new movie "17 Miracles"?
by filmmaker T.C. Christensen (Praise to the Man, The Work and the Glory)
A few months ago the movie "17 Miracles" was released. My daughter, Heather went to see the movie and she loved it, she also said that, "She cried like a baby". I really wanted to see the movie, but never made the time to go. Then a few weeks ago it came out on DVD, so I drove up to Deseret Book in St. George and bought me a copy. I came home and watched it.. and watch it.. and watch it. The movie really brought to life the stories and journals that I had been reading about my ancestors. It sure opened my eyes not only to the trials they went through to get to Utah but the miracles that took place also.
This blog is going to be all about "My Pioneer Heritage". I have found most of my ancestors that crossed the plains and I would like to share my findings with you.
This blog will be a continual work in progress... I hope you enjoy reading it, it has been a lot of work but very rewarding to me.
